THE OFFICIAL HONOLULU FOOD REVIEW
These reviews are in no particular order. I would take this very seriously if you are someone that will be visiting us here. We are always down to try something new, but we will not be repeat offenders at bad eateries becuase we couldn’t talk you out of it and you did not study the reviews. So read up now and pay attention to our weekly rankings that will be posted once we reach 25 restaurants. Keep a look out for our bar reviews as well…
One Love,
Luke
Pho 38* – moderately priced, good service, filling, good cheap American appetizers (mozz sticks)
What we had: pho brisket (noodles with meat and tons of other stuff you can mix in yourself), visits: 2
Dee thai* – pricey, good service, THAI ICED TEA, I would take a girl on a date here
What we had: satah (think chicken fingers), calamari and both were unreal, Visits: 1
La bamba* – SLOW, moderately priced, GREAT nachos, entrees were weak (not many mexican restaurants around here)
garrett and sarah don’t even remember what they got, visits: 1
St. Louis drive in~ – cheap, fast, greasy, best fast food breakfast and CHEAP, garrett gets the corn beef hash, we have only begun to delve into this place it is always packed and the stuff I see the locals get looks amazing
What we get: student specials (tuna or 2 CB with fries/drink), Visits: 3+
Rainbow drive in* – best mac salad on the island, good price for how much food you get, this place is much like st. Louis…very popular among locals and tourists alike, always packed and the menu is similar to st Louis, we get the mixed plate cuz its cheap but I see other people get tons of stuff, lots of outdoor seating but its usually too packed to sit (only con)
What we get: mixed plate (steak, fried chicken, and mahi mahi served with rice and mac salad), Visits: 3+
Cheeseburger in paradise^ – overpriced, no fries/drink w/ burger, poor service
What we get: we get nothing, this place is awful don’t ever go here, Visits: 1
Burgers on the edge* – over priced, but good food and filling, a bit slow (outdoor seating), kind of cool cuz you get to design your own burger, chicken is good too and garrett really likes the sweet potato fries, Visits: 2
L and L hawaiin bbq* – next to the hut (bar we frequent), large servings (fried rice), moderately priced, tons of choices, almost too hard to choose
What we get: fried rice and mahi mahi sandwich, but the menu is enormous, Visits: 2
Pearls hawaiin bbq* – slightly overpriced, mac salad is bad, but have other good sides…no point to go to this place really, I did it on a whim thinking it might be awesome but its not, stick with L and L (less than a block away), Visits: 1
Food land steak day Thursday** – food was not hot enough, steak can be fatty, shrimp is awesome and they sit it on the rice so all the juices make the rice shrimp flavored (easily the best part, save it for last!), Visits: 1 (but it was just this past Thursday so ill probably go from here on out every Thursday)
Wolfgang pucks^ – expensive (cuz its Waikiki), personal pizza is awesome (huge as well) and you get a ton of fries, menu is small, Visits: 1
Taken ramen* – a poor mans pho 38, price better than pho but less choices and not as tasty, Visits: 1
Maria’s***: better food than la bamba, somewhat pricey but very filling, taste wise the food is good not great, nachos are good
What we got: tacos, nachos, rice and beans are better at la bamba Visits: 1
